PROMOTING MULTI-GENERALTIONAL DIALOGUE THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA * 10 November 2011
On 10 November 2011, the Department of Public Information and the Communications Workshop Sub-committee of the NGO/DPI Executive Committee held an all-day presentation for NGOs and other attendees on the topic of “Promoting Multi-generational Dialogue through Social Media.”
The morning session speakers, two seasoned older adults and two young graduate students, provided general information and their personal experience in trying to bridge the generation gap. The afternoon session, a “hands on” presentation on how to apply the information given in the morning, was also quite informative. The participants in the afternoon were pleased with their new found skills and intended to practice what they had learned.
Since a purpose of this workshop was provide ways to bridge the gap between young and older adults via the use of social media, we are looking forward to conversations on Facebook, twitter, blogging and other forms of social media among the generations.
