West African Dialogue: Investing in Health for an Equitable Future Supporting My Society and My World
May 19 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
As part of its 75th anniversary, the United Nations has launched a global dialogue
to understand international concerns and to create new opportunities to
strengthen the UN. We at the Global NGO Executive Committee in
collaboration with the African Youth Movement invited input as we gathered for
this West African UN75 dialogue. 70 people from Nigeria, Senegal, the Gambia,
Cameroon, Geneva and USA registered for the Webinar and 39 were in
attendance. The Webinar focused on regional and global health. As part of its
purpose, we reviewed the virus, its epidemiology, and our state of preparedness.
We also heard about the important roles the NGOs have to play in educating
people about the programmes of the United Nations. Our larger mission was to
draft a vision for the future with our core problems and best solutions. Together
built a collective CSO action plan that we will share with the United Nations
through the Global NGO Executive Committee. The overall impression from
participants was that there is need for a New POST COVID 19 World Order that
emphasizes inclusiveness of governments and world bodies at all levels.
